Gravity
Gravity is not something the body has to overcome, nor is it a boundary imposed upon it. It is a physical condition shared by everything that has mass, an invisible force that governs weight, distance, balance, and motion. Its universality leaves no room for exception. No one escapes gravity; we simply find different ways of working within its pull.
Skateboarding does not disrupt the physical order of the world. It makes that order visible. A constant force becomes something we can see, feel, and understand through movement. Every trick reveals a relationship that exists before individual intention, showing that stability is never permanent. It is an ongoing process of finding balance again.
The city, in turn, becomes more than its built geometry. It is also a space shaped by forces that are always present, even when we rarely notice them.
Urban space takes on a different character when gravity moves beyond its role as a physical condition and becomes part of the cultural experience of the city. Nothing in the built environment has to change for the way we perceive it to change.
