Curatorial text

True mastery of skateboarding begins when movement no longer requires conscious thought. The feet, ankles, and legs work together instinctively, coordinating lean, weight shifts, and muscular force. Balance is no longer something the rider has to consciously correct; it becomes inherent to the movement itself. The board responds to the body, and the body responds in turn. This connection is forged through countless attempts, falls, adjustments, and repetition. To learn to skateboard is to develop an intimate physical understanding of movement.

That understanding gives skateboarding a continuity that transcends any fixed set of movements or techniques. Every body brings its own proportions, rhythm, and possibilities to the practice. What is learned goes far beyond landing a trick. It changes how weight is felt, how imbalance is anticipated, and how the body discovers new ways to respond. Dora embodies this understanding through her relationship with her board. No longer something she simply controls, it has become an extension of her physical experience, inseparable from the act of riding.
