Curatorial text

When the eyes are the window to the soul, losing one’s balance with eyes closed takes the experience beyond the fear of falling. There is a moment when losing our sense of balance unsettles our trust in what had seemed secure. Falling ceases to be merely a physical event and becomes part of the process of becoming, as we learn from what we could not avoid.

To entrust our happiness to the victory of a team, the outcome of a bet, or any external event is to place outside ourselves a responsibility that remains deeply personal. Outsourcing our joy allows us to avoid looking inward. Looking within means acknowledging our traumas, confronting our fears, and understanding that certain difficulties are also part of what shapes a life.

Prospection begins with this movement. What may eventually acquire value can emerge through the small changes of ordinary days, through choices no one records, through persistence whose importance becomes visible only when seen at a different scale.

An acorn contains a tree without offering its shade. Purpose exists in much the same way, held within until it encounters what awakens it. After that, love does not eliminate exhaustion. It gives meaning to perseverance. Victory ceases to be a final moment and becomes the quiet accumulation of everything that, day after day, made it possible to keep going.
