Curatorial text
There is a particular elegance in knowing when to leave. It lives in the way we carry ourselves, in the quiet confidence of someone who has found their direction, in the poise of a person who no longer needs to look back for permission to keep going. Leaving is not about losing what remains. It is about recognizing when something has ceased to be ours.
Of course we miss things. Longing can follow us without asking us to turn around. What we shared with a place, a person, or a time in our lives can remain meaningful without continuing to shape the life we choose to lead.
There is a difference between carrying a memory and allowing it to hold us in place. Staying where we no longer belong has a cost. It interrupts our momentum, pulls us out of step, and makes us forget the rhythm that had begun to carry us forward.
Perhaps confidence lies in being able to acknowledge what mattered without making a home of it again. To honor what was lived and still recognize when its place in our lives has changed.
Rhythm is knowing the pace of our own departure. Once we find it, we no longer have to force the way forward. At some point, the road begins to take a little of the reins itself.
